Working with BiomeLens
Terms of Service
These terms describe the general basis of our website and scientific analysis services. Each project is governed by its agreed written scope and quotation.
Website information and service scope
Website content describes our capabilities and general approach. It is not a fixed-price offer, a guarantee that every method will suit a dataset, or a substitute for an agreed project scope.
Before work begins, the written scope should identify inputs, analyses, deliverables, responsibilities, fees and delivery expectations. Project-specific agreements take precedence for that engagement. BiomeLens provides analysis services, not laboratory sequencing, extraction or sample processing.
Client responsibilities and lawful data
You are responsible for having the authority, permissions and any required consent or approvals to provide data for the proposed analysis. Supply accurate study design, sample identifiers and relevant metadata, and disclose handling or use restrictions before transfer.
Keep an independent copy of the original dataset. Do not submit patient identifiers, credentials or sensitive research files through the website forms. Data suitability and quality may affect the feasible scope.
Research use and scientific limitations
Our outputs support research. They are not medical diagnoses, treatment recommendations or clinical decision tools. Results depend on the data, sampling design, analytical assumptions and available references.
Statistical associations, predicted functions and computational candidates require interpretation within their limitations. We do not guarantee significant results, publication, discovery, biological activity or complete genome reconstruction.
Clients remain responsible for research decisions, ethical and institutional requirements, and the accuracy and context of publications or other uses of the outputs.
Third-party tools and reference databases
Analyses may use third-party software, public databases and reference annotations under their applicable terms and licences. Their coverage, versions and limitations can affect results. Relevant methods and analytical choices are documented within the agreed deliverables.
Third-party rights and attribution requirements remain applicable. A project deliverable does not transfer ownership of third-party software or reference content.
Delivery, revisions and changes
Delivery schedules are established for each project and depend on receipt of suitable data, agreed inputs, computational requirements and review needs. We discuss material data issues or scope changes when they arise.
The quotation or written scope defines included revisions and review. New datasets, comparisons or deliverables may require a revised scope, fee and timeline before additional work proceeds.
Ownership, confidentiality and publication
You retain ownership of client-supplied data. Rights to project-specific outputs and the treatment of reusable methods or code are defined in the written agreement. Unpublished data and findings are handled under the project confidentiality arrangements.
Publication, acknowledgement and any authorship considerations should reflect the actual contribution and applicable research standards, and be discussed where relevant. Analysis alone does not give BiomeLens ownership of a client publication.
Fees, payment and cancellation
Fees, payment stages and invoicing requirements are specified in the agreed quotation. No fixed service prices or general refund period are established by this website.
If a project needs to pause or end, contact us to agree the status of completed work, data handling, outstanding deliverables and fees under the project agreement. Cancellation and termination arrangements should be confirmed in that agreement.
